This week as I continue to edit The Voyeur, I thought I would take the opportunity to share some voyeurs from literature and film who have inspired my writing.
Over the years, writers, directors and producers have entertained us with some of the the most memorable voyeuristic characters who have also graced our screens.
Below are a few characters who have the power to make my palms sweat, the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end and my pulse race.
Ever had the feeling of being followed? The sensation of eyes watching when you are alone? If so, take a deep breath. These characters will have you checking inside your wardrobe and under your bed before you turn off the light.
The Executioners (aka Cape Fear) by John D MacDonald -Max Cady
Psycho by Robert Bloch-Norman Bates
The Collector by John Fowles – Frederick Clegg
If you enjoy an adrenaline rush read or a creepy film I recommend any of the above mentioned books or films to send a shiver down your spine. Each character brings a different kind of horror to the page and screen and has the power to simultaneously engage and repulse their audience.
Do you have any others to add to the list above?
Please include them in the comments below.
